Paul "Zeke" Joy, who was hired as a Firefighter in 1981, was promoted to Lieutenant in 1990 retired from the Bedford Fire Department on January 15, 2010.

Lieutenant Joy was the Lieutenant of Group 1 and oversaw there day to day shift duties and operations as they served the residents of Bedford.

Lieutenant Joy also served as the Bedford Fire Alarm Superintendent for the majority of his career and had a working knowledge of the Town of Bedford’s overhead and underground communication and fire alarm wiring system that will be hard to replace.

Lieutenant Joy’s knowledge and experience will be sorely missed.
